ABOUT

Freya Mawhinney is an Actor/Singer from North Yorkshire. Starting at the age of 7, Freya began Acting in her local youth theatre, as well as performing twice a year with her local amateur dramatic and operatic societies. She found her love for singing in her school chamber choir, which gave her opportunities to sing in competitions in England and France. Since then Freya's skill has developed and she is a strong Mezzo Soprano. She is self taught on the guitar and has been writing her own music for 5 years. 

During her A Level years, Freya trained in contemporary dance, under the stylistic influences of Alvin Ailey and Richard Alston. 

Since training in Acting & Creative Practice at the University of Northampton (fully accredited by Equity & Spotlight) Freya has gained many skills in Acting and singing such as Laban, archetypes and Estill Voice level 1. She also has certificates in basic and intermediate stage combat (please see spotlight for full details). 

Freya hopes to move to London within the next year and in the meantime will continue work in hospitality whilst she raises the necessary funds! 

Freya prides herself on her professionalism gaining 2 CV credits before leaving training. She is a hard working individual with a strong eye for direction and devising as well as using script. She is an optimistic individual with a good sense of humour and a passion for the arts.
